SMHS Choir Program

Placement in the SMHS choir program is based on experience, voice part, vocal tone quality, musicianship, attitude, and academic eligibility.
All choir students will participate in concerts at SMHS and in SMCISD choral activities. *(see below)
1. CO-curricular includes all SMHS and San Marcos CISD scheduled activities and are part of the curriculum of SMHS and count as a content mastery grade.
2. EXTRA-curricular includes all events outside of the normal required activities and are optional, therefore requiring academic eligibility.
Ensembles Offered
Ensembles to be offered in the 2021-22 school year:
Chamber Singers- Mixed Choir, UIL participation mandatory. Mainly upperclassmen, very advanced. By audition only.
Advanced Treble Choir (varsity)- UIL participation mandatory. Mainly upperclassmen, very advanced level. By audition only.
Select Treble Choir (junior varsity)- UIL participation mandatory. Mainly advanced freshmen and sophomores. By audition only.
Beginning Treble Choir- A non-UIL competitive class to help build a solid foundation, for those who enjoy singing and want to become musically literate.
Advanced Tenor-Bass Choir (varsity)- UIL participation mandatory. Mainly upperclassmen,very advanced level. By audition only.
Select Tenor-Bass Choir (junior varsity)- UIL participation mandatory. Mainly advanced freshmen and sophomores.By audition only.
